For my birthday this year, all I wanted was to escape from the city. Something I haven't done in far too long. The idea of staying in a little cabin for a weekend getaway had me so excited, until I remembered it was February and thus potentially cold and snowy. So, I headed somewhere closer to LA for a day trip instead.
I wore red to embody my life mantra: Like red wine, I get better with age. ;) I don't remember when I started saying this to myself, but it helps reverse the pressure Hollywood puts on getting older.
My absolute favorite feature of this gown is its spaghetti strap cold shoulder. It gives the dress a regal vibe which makes me feel like a princess. For accessories, I chose to keep it simple and elegant.
Pulling back my hair reveals these silver and mother-of-pearl earrings. Added for contrast, they feel like the hidden treasure I like to think I am.
To keep my accessories cohesive, I stuck to sliver for my necklace and belt. Normally, I don't wear earrings, a necklace, and a belt for one look. However, their minimal design kept them from being too overwhelming.
This look and the subsequent adventuring after shooting it were birthday wishes come true. When I got home and took a moment to reflect, I couldn't help but feel thankful because this is was truly one of the best birthdays I've had.
